  1. This is a truly superb and important book for those who want insight into Aikido as O-Sensei saw it. Since these are translations of his own words it may be some of the best insight into the depths of Aikido that O-Sensei traveled.

    There is no discussion of technique, no how-to-throw an opponent; the book is about Aikido as a personal philosophical and spiritual practice. It starts with the words “Aikido is the study of spirit…” and never stops.

    Delightfully, O-Sensei’s writing flows like verse. I often got the feeling I was reading poetry.
